Ginger Jitters

An acute overdose of ginger is usually in excess of about 2 grams of ginger per kilogram of body mass, dependent on level of ginger tolerance, and can result in a state of central nervous system over-stimulation called ginger intoxication or colloquially the "ginger jitters".

Just today, I began eating raw ginger for the first time in my life. Not pleasant. I peel about an inch of root and gnaw it, holding it in my cheek for hours like a wad of chewing tobacco. I do not swallow the fibrous remains. I am doing this in the hope that ginger will knock my brain out of the depressive funk I've lived in most of my life. I have no clue if it will or will not. Why are you writing about ginger jitters?
