Morning's Glory: Sam Sifton

This was the deal we cut from the beginning: Dad misses dinner at home, he makes hot breakfast in the morning. In sunglasses, maybe, but he makes it.

There is great joy in that process, it turns out. Breakfast is the too-often-unsung hero of the American family table. This is true whether you have children or not. Some weekend shopping and a mere 15 minutes stolen from sleep can bring stylishness to the morning, along with a feeling that the day is filled with promise rather than recrimination. Do it once, and it’s hard. Do it three times in a week, and it’s a habit.
